It didn’t start out the way it ended up.

I never throughout my younger life considered I would write, let alone enjoy it so much. I have however, always had a love for a good story and made many different versions of them up. While many and most of the neighborhood children would play together, I would spend hours walking through the local woods on adventures in my imagination into many kingdoms and places. This was not always my choice as my family lived on the edge of social outcast.

From my oldest memories my father drank, any time he could. Eventually, he learned to keep a job, he had to be sober before and during his work shift. Unfortunately the learning curve on this took many years and tolls on our family. When half of the paycheck has to go to alcohol and cigarettes, most everything else suffers. It limits a family socially and economically from most other families. Don’t play with those children their father is a drunk, was stated sometimes very directly.

Regardless going anywhere or buying anything was always a difficult time because money was always tight. My mother did everything she could to keep us with the bare minimum to get by. Many times flirting with disaster and failure she would somehow find a way to make ends meet.

This is why I will always dedicate my books to her and her life of selfless acts for others. Everyone always knew of her generosity and positive view of things without concern for how difficult her life was. She is and always will be my hero!

This is not a story of woe is me or feel sorry for me, many others walk this same path. My family and I were far from alone living with an alcoholic father. I learned from my mother to look at the bright side and work with what you have. The stories I made up and the reading I did gave me the start to writing. It was difficult, I struggled a lot at first but time and determination has help me write and find my true passion in telling stories.

I am told writing gives the reader several things. Knowledge, instruction, advise or sometimes just entertainment. I write to entertain, to give the reader an escape into a place where they can view a world or time they can lose themselves in. I always hope the world will see value in reading. Please enjoy and if possible comment on my work. I hope to hear from you and most of all, thank you, even if this is all you will ever read from me.
